Slow, heavy, sightseeing eyes see the strange bedroom’s faint and red.
But a nerve wisp whistles quietly saying sleep more sleep more.
Are you those fragments now sunk in dark worn out carpet holes?
Or a grasslike tuft being blown by the floors very own little seasons?
This haunted friend knows nothing but sleep more sleep more,
The nerves whisper quietly saying sleep more sleep more.

Down rotting old window frames,
pink morning light is the first mark of dawn.
Squint, haven’t you seen the signs
mottled on cars, streaked on the orphaned shops,
cast over walls?
Passing the places where people pee,
smell spots the stench of subsiding euphoria
escaping through skin.

Felt the mush between the toes,

Kicked the dogs that licked up jam.
Just this morning, at breakfast, a tree with deep roots came and shook me.
